permanent.

Akumbia Lodge is the restoration of a 1960s heritage estate in Winneba, Ghana; built by Alex Quaison-Sackey, the first Black African to preside over the United Nations General Assembly. We are looking for companies, foundations, and cultural patrons who want their name associated with something that will last.

A grandfather built this home.
His granddaughter is bringing it back.

THE LEGACY

In 1964, Alex Quaison-Sackey stood at the podium of the United Nations General Assembly and made history as the first Black African to serve as its President. He was 41 years old. The world was watching.

He built a family estate in Winneba, Ghana in the 1960s: three buildings facing the Atlantic Ocean. That home is Akumbia Lodge. And his granddaughter, Nana Henry, a cultural entrepreneur and typography artist based in Philadelphia, PA is restoring it.

Akumbia Lodge will open as a boutique heritage bed and breakfast, a living museum of Alex Quaison-Sackey's diplomatic legacy, and a private rooftop lounge overlooking the Atlantic. Every phase of the renovation is being documented as a 10-episode documentary series called Suite Legacy.

This is not a development project. It is an act of cultural preservation. And it is looking for partners who understand the difference.

Why Sponsor / Partner with Akumbia Lodge

  • Gold outline of a loudspeaker icon with sound lines on a black background.

    Brand visibility

Every suite, every meal, every rooftop sunset is photographed and shared. If your product is in those spaces, it travels with every guest story, every Instagram post, every press feature, without additional cost to you.

  • Decorative wooden gate with intricate lattice design and stairs leading up to it, set on a dark background.

    local economic growth

Akumbia Lodge hires locally, sources from Ghanaian artisans, and contributes to the Winneba community directly. Sponsoring this project is a measurable investment in African economic development, documented for the life of the property.

  • A black background with a gold circle of the Earth showing the continents of North America, Central America, South America, and parts of Europe and Africa.

    Community Impact

Akumbia Lodge's audience is the global African diaspora; educated, professional, culturally engaged, and seeking exactly the kind of meaningful brand associations this property represents. Your name belongs in that room.

  • A yellow and black striped caution barrier on a black background.

    suite legacy miniseries

Suite Legacy is a 10-episode documentary series filming the entire renovation. Sponsor names and products appear on screen throughout the series.

  • A black background with a gold-colored stylized hand holding a dark object, possibly a key.

    Permanent Heritage Credit

Sponsors are credited permanently on the Akumbia Lodge reception sponsor wall, the website, the guest welcome book, and all marketing materials. For the life of the property, not a campaign cycle. Permanent.

IN-KIND SPONSORSHIP

Not every contribution is financial and we welcome both.

Akumbia Lodge is actively seeking in-kind material sponsors whose products will become a physical part of the restoration. From windows and flooring to linens, toiletries, lighting, kitchen equipment, and vehicles. Every in-kind contribution is acknowledged with the same permanence as a financial sponsorship.

If your company makes something that belongs in a heritage boutique hotel on the Atlantic coast of Ghana, being documented in a global documentary series, we would like to talk.

The companies associated with the restoration of this property are not buying advertising. They are being written into the story of one of West Africa’s most historically significant private homes and into a documentary that will carry that story to the world.
